Computer clusters refurbishment – Science Library

By Sarah Custard, on 12 August 2015

The refurbishment of the computer clusters on the ground floor of the Science Library are scheduled for 21st August 2015 – 18th September 2015.

The refurbished clusters will be providing an additional 56 computer spaces, new desks, new all-in-one PCs and electrics. These new workstations will also enable the Science Library to reduce overall energy consumption in the building as the new PCs will use 15% less energy than our current models.

The new clusters will give 231 workstations in total.  7 of these will be configured for disabled access.

During the refurbishment the clusters will be closed, although the Print@UCL devices will still be accessible, as will the Service Assistant Pod. ISD will be providing signs publicising the closure to students in addition to signposting students to other clusters and giving out flyers.  Contractors will be accessing the computer clusters through the G15 Teaching Cluster during the works.

Main Library – window repair works from 18th July

Windows on the front elevation of the Wilkins Building, overlooking the Main Quad, will be having a makeover. Repairs and painting, which will improve the appearance of the windows, will be taking place from 18th July and are expected to continue for 6 weeks. There will be a team of abseilers doing the works, rather than use of scaffolding, so this is not expected to cause significant disruption to the Main Library. You may see abseilers at the windows!
