Known post-migration issues, 28 July 2025

We are very sorry to report that, since the server migration which took place on 16–17 July, Transcribe Bentham has been experiencing a few technical problems.

Initially, our ‘Recent Changes’ log was out of sync, meaning that the total number of pages registered as complete on the Transcription Desk as a whole was displaying inaccurately, and that some transcribers’ most recent contributions were not recognised as such on their individual profiles. This issue has now been resolved.

Some sluggishness when loading pages has also been reported by Transcribe Bentham volunteers, which we hope will be resolved soon.

Another unexpected change has taken place when users are transcribing or editing a page, with the ‘preview’ button now displaying at the bottom of the page, and the preview itself no longer appearing side-by-side with the manuscript image, thus making a comparison of one’s transcript, without TEI tags, and the manuscript itself, substantially more difficult. We hope to resolve this as soon as possible, but it might take until early next week to be fixed.
