Welcome to the progress update for the period 28 January to 3 February 2012, during which time further excellent progress has been made.

2,637 manuscripts have now been transcribed, up 41 on last week’s total. Of these, 2,406 (91%) are complete and locked, which is also an increase of 41 on last week.

  • Box 27: 240 of 350 (68%)

  • Box 62: 42 of 565 (7%)
  • Box 70: 165 of 250 (47%)
  • Box 71: 300 of 665 (45%)
  • Box 72: 225 of 664 (33%)

Boxes 2, 72, 96, and 115 were the most heavily transcribed during the last seven days. Box 96 is nigh on complete, and next week we will issue a list of the final few needing to be transcribed – hopefully we can finish this one off soon!

We are always keen to hear about the experiences of Transcribe Bentham volunteers – hence our latest user survey. However, we would like to hear in more detail about what brought volunteers to TB, your general experiences of taking part in the project, whether it’s caused you to investigate Bentham’s life and works what keeps you returning to transcribe, and so on. If you’ve taken part in TB and would like to contribute a guest piece to the blog, we’d be delighted to hear from you and host it – just send us an email to discuss it.

Thank you, as ever, to all those who have given their time and effort to Transcribe Bentham during the last seven days. It remains greatly appreciated.
