BBC Archives

The BBC Archive site now features a series of themed collections of radio and TV programmes, documents and photographs. As well as art & culture, the collections cover subjects such as science, lifestyle, politics, and the environment. The most recently added collection, on the theme of Second Wave Feminism, features topics such as the Coffee Bar Ban on Women (Nationwide, 1971), Equality at Cambridge University (Tonight, 1963), and The Lesser Half (Women at Work, 1974).
There are also collections relating to Henry Moore at the BBC and Francis Bacon at the BBC.

LACMA Reading Room

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has recently announced the launch of its Reading Room, an online space devoted to the presentation of the museum’s publications. In an effort to make books available that are otherwise difficult to access, the initial group focuses on out-of-print offerings and features ten digitised catalogues highlighting the development of the Los Angeles art scene during the 1960s and 70s including Six painters and the object by Lawrence Alloway, Art in Los Angeles: seventeen artists in the sixties by Maurice Tuchman, and exhibition catalogues on Edward Kienholz and Robert Irwin.

Women of the avant-garde is a part of the Avant-garde all the time series of podcasts which are made up of materials from Ubuweb presented by Kenneth Goldsmith. It includes audio clips from Gertrude Stein, Yoko Ono, Kathy Acker, Laurie Anderson and many more.

Small Publishers Fair 2009

The 2009 Small Publishers Fair is taking place this Friday and Saturday, 13th & 14th November, 11am – 7pm, at Conway Hall, Red Lion Square. The Fair will include stalls for small, independent publishers, artists and writers such as Coracle, Moschatel and Weproductions.
An exhibition entitled Written, drawn, and stapled has also been curated especially for the Fair and highlights collaborative publishing work of writers, poets and artists working in New York in the 1960s and 70s. On Saturday 14th there will also be a programme of readings and events taking place.
