UCL Archives is an online database of descriptions of archive collections held by Special Collections and the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) at UCL. It enables users to search both Special Collections and SSEES catalogues using a variety of search options and explore over 4000 records.
Collections held at Special Collections and now searchable via UCL Archives include:
- George Orwell (1903-1950): a comprehensive body of research material, comprising correspondence, notebooks and personalia.
- Francis Galton (1822-1911): Papers and correspondence of Sir Francis Galton, pioneer in eugenics and forensic science.
UCL Archives is a text-based database; it will continue to be enlarged with more detailed descriptions and links to digital images from the collections. In the meantime, over 2500 images of items held in Special Collections can be accessed via the library’s Digital Collections.
