New UCL Moodle themes now available
By , on 29 March 2011
UCL Moodle allows you to choose a theme for your personal login. This overrides any themes selected at the course level. There are seven subtly different colour schemes to choose from (blue, green, grey, light blue, pink, purple or red) or you may wish the keep the default theme (graduated blue).
Moodle Editors can also select themes at course level which will display to anyone who has not overridden the default theme on their Moodle profile.
To update the theme in your Moodle profile:
- Log in to UCL Moodle: http://moodle.ucl.ac.uk
- Click on your name in the top right corner (this will show your profile)
- Click [Edit profile] tab
- Click the [Show advanced] button – this will uncover the theme selector option in Step 4.
- Scroll down and find ‘Preferred theme’ and change the dropdown menu to a theme of your choice.
Click on the thumbnail images below to view the available themes in full size:
Default (graduated blue)
UCL New (blue)
UCL New Green
UCL New Grey
UCL New Light Blue
UCL New Pink
UCL New Purple
UCL New Red

brilliant! I have tried only the green theme and looks much better at first glance compared to the standard one deployed.
an idea: small style changes can make a lot in terms of both perceived and effective usability. why not asking an assessment to UCLIC UEM students next year, to see if worthy to change the default template to another one?
