UK Thai Workshop on AI for Traffic Safety Analysis

On 22nd June 2023, UCL SpaceTimeLab and Chulalongkorn University held the UK Thai Workshop on AI for Traffic Safety Analysis in Bangkok, Thailand. The event, supported by UCL’s Global Engagement Fund, brought together road safety researchers and practitioners to discuss current issues in road safety in Thailand, including the potential of data driven methods and AI to support road safety improvments. SpaceTimeLab 10th Anniversary Event

SpaceTimeLab celebrated its 10th anniversary with a grand workshop on 21st July 2023. Esteemed researchers, academics, industry experts, and policymakers gathered at UCL to commemorate a decade of groundbreaking research, unlocking space and time for future AI and smart cities.  

Prof Tao Cheng’s opening presentation, “Unlocking Space and Time: SpaceTimeLab’s 10th Anniversary Celebration,” highlighted the lab’s journey and its vision of leveraging space-time data for societal benefits. The event also included an engaging ‘SpaceTimeLab Research Showcase’ session, where the lab’s current team presented the cutting-edge research driving spatial temporal analytics. A thought-provoking panel discussion on ‘Future AI and Smart Cities’ followed, exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence and urban development, and revealing potential innovations for urban living. The celebration continued with presentations from outstanding alumni, who had received prestigious awards from Esri for their work at SpaceTimeLab, including the Roger Tomlinson Prize and the Esri Development Award. Alumnus Professor Ed Manley, from University of Leeds, delivered the event’s keynote address, contributing valuable insights and inspiring the audience about the future of spatial-temporal analytics.
