How to record a Blackboard Collaborate session

By Kate Howe, on 27 May 2020

Blackboard Collaborate will allow you to run a live webinar through Moodle.

These sessions provide valuable learning resources to students. Therefore when running a session please do remember to record the session as this will then provide a revision aid to students and allow any student who were unable to take part the ability to view at a later date.

To enable recordings please follow this guidance when running your session:

  • To begin a recording, expand the session menu and click the Start Recording option;
  • When the recording has begun you’ll receive an onscreen notification and the icon in this region will change;
  • You can toggle a recording on and off during a session and only one video recording will be produced;
  • The video recording will be created automatically and located in the Moodle joining location. This will only happen once the recording has ended and everyone has left the session.

For full details please see UCL Blackboard Collaborate Resource Centre

Blackboard Collaborate training

By Kate Howe, on 26 May 2020

Blackboard Collaborate Ultra enables you to run web-based sessions with your students using audio, virtual whiteboards, screen sharing, text chat and video. You set up Blackboard Collaborate Ultra sessions in your Moodle courses.

There are regular drop-in training sessions organised by UCL Digital Education which require no registration:

However you will need to be enrolled on to Moodle for these sessions. If you don’t have a UCL userid and would like to join in a session then please email the MBBS Technology Unit and we can hopefully arrange for guest access to be setup in advance.

If you are unable to attend the live training sessions then please find below a link to a previously recorded Blackboard Collaborate introduction:
