Dr Diego gave his lecture on Aliens… Where are you? to a packed audience on 1st December at the Royal Masonic School. We were all fascinated by the number of coincidences required to generate life, and surprised by the conclusion that we may be alone in the universe. The lecture was enjoyable and entertaining throughout, and led to stimulated discussion afterwards. Thank you on behalf of everyone who attended this excellent lecture! |

Dr Francisco Diego gave his excellent talk on the ‘Ghost Universe’ to the South West Herts Astronomical Society on January 30th. His talk covered a wide field, from the history of the expanding universe to the nature and origin of the matter it contains. He then focused-in on the mysterious missing 96% of the universe’s mass and energy, giving us a clear and well-explained summary of the evidence for its existence and current ideas about the nature of dark matter and dark energy. His talk was greatly enjoyed by all, and provoked plenty of lively discussion. Thank you for stretching our minds into the unknown reaches of the cosmos!
