We have a new subscription to the EBSCO database, History of Science, Technology and Medicine

The subscription has been ordered for 1 simultaneous user starting from January 2014. However we have a trial until the end of the year for unlimited users – meaning we can assess it’s popularity and change the subscription type if necessary.

Coin Hoards of the Roman Republic Online

Coin Hoards of the Roman Republic Online (CHRR Online) is a collaboration between Rick Witschonke and Ethan Gruber at the ANS and Dr. Kris Lockyear of UCL.

The new web-based tool makes available in searchable form the contents of a database created by Dr. Lockyear of 694 Roman Republican Coin hoards and the 115,000 coins that they contain. The new tool, which is based on the Numishare technology, makes it possible to browse, search, map and analyze the evidence of Roman coin finds in new and exciting ways.

Eighteenth Century Journals Portal

UCL has a 30-day trial of the Eighteenth Century Journals Portal.  This trial is available on-site, or off-site via remote WTS or UCL’s VPN.  Please note that trial access only allows users to view the articles on-screen; they cannot be downloaded or saved.

This resource comprises rare journals printed between c1685 and 1835.  Many are ephemeral, lasting only for a handful of issues; others run for several years. Topics covered include colonial life; provincial and rural affairs; the French and American revolutions; reviews of literature and fashion throughout Europe; political debates; and London coffee house gossip and discussion.

Cambridge Histories Online has a new design and now has a clearer, fresher look and feel with improved search results,  the ability to view results as chapters or as books and to set up content and MARC records alerts by RSS or email, as well as general news alerts relating to new site features.

Art and Architecture Complete

UCL has a trial of Art and Architecture Completeuntil 31 December 2012.

Art and Architecture Complete includes full-text coverage of 380 periodicals and more than 220 books, and indexes 780 academic journals, magazines and trade publications.  The database also has a collection of 63,000 images.  It covers a wide variety of subjects, including antiques, art and art history, and interior and landscape design.

The database is searchable on the Ebsco platform alongside Art Full Text and Art Index Retrospective.
