Career Choices and Success – research
This part of the project will present both quantitative and qualitative information about career choices and destinations of engineering and technology students by gender, to explore:
- Performance through the assessment centre / interview process by male and female students
- Good practice for gender inclusive assessment centres to offer a fair experience to all participants
- Differences between the career choices and processes of male and female engineering and technology students
Evidence will be generated from the following sources:
- Analysis of HESA destinations dataset over 2 years
- Capture data from the roundtables in the main study and wider participating companies to obtain high level data and personal conversations about the recruitment process to
- Capture anonymous data via company HR contacts to answer – ‘what are the proportions of students attending and being successful at assessment centres by gender – over past 3 years if possible’. This will look at success rates by gender.
- Interviews to collect good practice with four employers.
The outputs will be a short pdf report and good practice guide.
