Manage your finances – don’t let them manage you!

NATIONAL STUDENT MONEY WEEK 24TH – 28TH FEBRUARY, 2014

National Student Money Week takes place each year  and is aimed at promoting free financial help and support to all students – here at UCL we will be organising events throughout the week commencing 24th of Feb, 2014. The event is supported by Universities and Colleges throughout the UK who will all be re-iterating this year’s message: “ Manage your money –don’t let it manage you”

This annual event is designed to ensure that students, their parents, the media, politicians and the general public get to know about, and celebrate, the financial support and advice offered free of charge in Universities, Colleges and Students’ Unions across the UK. The focus is on communicating a positive message to the widest possible audience and to contribute to the collective voice of those working to improve students financial skills.

The UCL Student Funding Office, in association with NASMA (National Association of Student Money Advisers) is organising UCL’s first National Student Money Week events – this includes advice on helping students save, budget and manage their money better with the support of UCL’s Student Funding Welfare Adviser. Please see below for a  list of events taking place during the designated week.

Student Funding Stall – 10am-1pm. Tues, 25th Feb, North Cloisters. Weds, 26th Feb, South Cloisters. Thurs, 27th Feb, North Cloisters. Stop by for useful budgeting guides, money manuals, hints and tips on saving money as well as fun freebies. Guess the value of our two shopping baskets to win the contents!

Money Adviser Drop-in Sessions – 2-5pm. Tues 25th and Thurs 27th, 4 Taviton Street. An opportunity for you to meet the Student Funding Welfare Adviser and ask any questions you have about your finances. Plus, collect a free gift. (No appointment necessary)

Bake on a Budget – 2-3pm. Weds, 26th Feb, North Cloisters. With the support of the UCLU Baking Society, a short workshop on how to bake on a budget. Giving the opportunity for students to take away recipes and tips on baking for less.

We would like the support of all UCL staff to help promote and encourage students to come and take part in the events on offer. This will not only enhance the student experience but help empower students to be more ‘money smart’.

Thank you for your support.

UCL Student Funding Team.
