About the Opinion Blog

The SSEES Opinion blog is a space for open discussion and debate on current topics from the East European region and topics that extend beyond its borders. The blog draws on the research expertise of leading academic specialists at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College London (UCL SSEES) and its’ network of talented current postgraduate students, previous staff members, and alumni.

SSEES is the world’s leading institution for research and teaching on Russia, the Baltics, and Central, Eastern and South-East Europe. The School’s mission is to foster cross-disciplinary approaches to area studies, using expertise in our primary geographical region to generate knowledge and understanding of the broader world. As such we offer unrivalled depth and breadth of research and expertise on the region, as well as teaching a wide range of undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.
