Expansion of UCL’s Drama Online access

By Anna Sansome, on 27 June 2022

UCL staff and students now have access to many additional playtexts and works of criticism following a significant expansion of our Drama Online access.

We have extended our existing access to the Core collection and Nick Hern Books Modern Plays to cover all the titles in both collections.

We have added access to the following collections:

Aurora Metro Books
With over 125 plays, the Aurora Metro Books collection offers a highly contemporary list of new drama with a focus on women’s drama, international drama, drama in translation, and drama by black and Asian writers.

Oberon Books
Over 500 titles featuring a diverse selection of canonical and contemporary drama, including:

  • contemporary, stand-out plays by British writers such as Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti, Alice Birch, Inua Ellams, Dennis Kelly, Jasmine Lee-Jones, and Laura Wade;
  • international plays in translation; and
  • canonical works from writers such as J.B Priestley and Arnold Wesker and modern reimagining of classics texts from authors such as Anne Carson and Gary Owen.

Critical Studies & Performance Practice
450 academic books from the prestigious Methuen Drama and The Arden Shakespeare imprints. Together they offer invaluable critical, contextual and pedagogic content from leading voices in theatre, performance and Shakespeare studies. This collection also includes PATAZ: Physical Actor Training – an online A-Z, which establishes a foundation for physical training exercises through over 60 dynamic videos with accompanying audio commentary, reflection, and texts for today’s physical actor, teacher, and trainer.
