How has the library helped your research?

Lisa K Flint17 May 2012

I’m on the hunt for some stories about how using the library resources has helped your research. Was there a particular journal that you needed to find, or a rare paper? How has your work benefited from using library resources ? Is there any one resource that you just couldn’t live without??
I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.. please email me l.flint@ucl.ac.uk. Thanks!

SFX linking in PubMed

Lisa K Flint15 May 2012

As you know, at the moment SFX links only appear in PubMed when we have full-text access to articles.

We’ve set up a two week trial of a tool that enables SFX linking for all articles, so that you can view our print holdings and ILL options, and search other catalogues, when we don’t have the full-text.

We would like to invite your comments. To test the new setup, go to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?otool=iukucllib in a different browser from your usual one, having first cleared your cookies and browsing history (Tools > Internet Options in IE; History > Clear Recent History > Everything in Firefox.)

The new tool means more up todate linking between PubMed and our journal holdings, and also matches the behaviour of SFX links in all other databases.

If you’d like to comment, please reply on or before Friday 25th May.

Many thanks!
