SSEES projects update

By Phil Watson, on 6 July 2022

The Facilities and Projects team would like to inform you of two separate SSEES Library closures that will be taking place over the next few days, to allow essential projects to take place.

Firstly we are delighted to announce that on Friday 8th July we will be updating and replacing  a large number of chairs within the library space.

We will be removing and recycling 120 chairs and replacing them with cantilever chairs, which will enhance the student experience, making study more comfortable and improve the aesthetics, by replacing all the tired, less comfortable chairs. We will also be filling spaces that were without seating due to damage issues and H&S reasons, with 150 units being installed.

To ensure the safety of staff and students, while this install takes place, we will be closing the Library space. The Library will be open between 13:00-19:00.

Also, on Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th July we will be installing a new electrical distribution board on the first floor. This is an Estates funded project which will allow additional capacity for new power and also update the current system to fall in line with fire safety regulations and to ensure that the power distribution is up to date, which in turn will cause less power disruptions.

To allow this to take place, the power to the building will need to be switched off, and in turn we will need to close the Library for the duration of the install. The Library will be closed from Friday 8th July at 19:00 and will reopen on Monday 11th July at 10:00.

If you require any further information in regards to these projects, please do not hesitate in contacting a member of the team.
