Art in Libraries
By Jay Woodhouse, on 17 February 2016
Library Services has been working in conjuction with the Slade School to promote the use of Library space for art exibitions and installations. To this end three catalogues of locations within the Main, Science and Cruciform Libraries that would be suitable for exibitions and/or installations have been created. For each space the type of suitable material that could be hosted is defined from 2D, 3D, Audio, Projected Media or Screen / Monitor. There are also images of the spaces, ease of instalation guide, other groups that would need to be involved and notes on the space.
The aim is to encourage Slade student and others to use the library spaces for art exhibitions / installations. The libraries have hosted art installations previously, but each time the discussions have had to start from scratch. The Art in Libraries catalogues should make it easier for projects to be developed.
The three catologues have been passed to the Slade School and are also available on our Teaching and Learning Portal
