Idylla – New generation of molecular diagnostic testing

Diagnostics and management of infectious diseases such as HIV and many other viral and bacterial infections require the use of molecular testing either to determine the presence of a specific pathogen or to quantify the number of particles in a sample. This type of testing requires specialized, labor-intensive and time-consuming steps that can only be performed by very specialized laboratories and highly qualified technicians. Testing is generally performed in batches on large, sophisticated instruments. The overall process is time-consuming. Turnaround time ranges from several hours for large laboratories to several days for smaller laboratories that need to send the samples to a specialized molecular lab for testing.

Idylla^TM  is a next generation Molecular Diagnostics Platform that allows for testing at the point of impact and eliminates long waiting times or the necessity of outsourcing tests. The fully integrated system has a compact design providing health care practitioners with direct access to assays in a range of applications (Infectious Disease, Oncology and Genetic tests). Idylla covers the entire process from sample preparation to multiplexed real-time PCR amplification and detection in 90 minutes or less ensuring physicians have the right information to make timely, effective clinical treatment decisions.
