Earlier this week, ‘”Many hands make light work, many hands together make merry work”: Transcribe Bentham and crowdsourcing manuscript collections’ by Tim Causer and Melissa Terras was published in Crowdsourcing our Cultural Heritage, edited by Mia Ridge. The book features eight case studies of crowdsourcing projects and four theoretical essays and, we think, will become a standard work for those interested in crowdsourcing, or who want to launch their own such project.

Our contribution is our latest discussion of TB, and provides a history of the project, the contributions of volunteers, the work of the tranScriptorium project, quality control, and the impact of the project. Thanks to Ashgate, the book’s publishers, the chapter can be downloaded for free from UCL Discovery. Since the chapter was written, of course, the rate of transcription has increased dramatically – but that’s for our next publication…

Thank you, as always, to everyone who has given their time and effort to TB during the last seven days – it remains as greatly appreciated as always.
