In one transcribed manuscript, Bentham proves himself to have been ahead of time once again: in 1825, working on his ‘Constitutional Code’, Bentham argued that ‘When both sexes are meant to be intended, employ not the word man – but the word person.’ Many thanks to volunteer Keith Thompson for transcribing this one.
As always, thanks again to everyone who has given their time so generously to Transcribe Bentham during the last seven days. It remains as warmly appreciated as ever.
