Progress update, 2 to 8 February 2013

Welcome to the Transcribe Bentham progress update for the period 2 to 8 February 2013, during which our 5,000th manuscript was transcribed! A total of 12,210 words (including XML markup) were transcribed during the last seven days.

5,021 manuscripts have now been transcribed or partially transcribed, which is 28 up on last week’s total. 4,761 (94%) of these are complete and locked, an increase of 32 on this time last week.

The more detailed state of progress is as follows:

  • Box 2: 373 manuscripts transcribed of 753 (49%)
  • Box 27: 350 of 350 (100%)
  • Box 35: 278 of 439 (63%)
  • Box 50: 110 of 198 (55%)
  • Box 51: 352 of 940 (37%)
  • Box 62: 53 of 565 (9%)
  • Box 70: 254 of 350 (72%)
  • Box 71: 663 of 663 (100%)
  • Box 72: 607 of 664 (91%)
  • Box 73: 151 of 151 (100%)
  • Box 79: 198 of 199 (99%)
  • Box 95: 119 of 147 (80%)
  • Box 96: 526 of 539 (97%)
  • Box 97: 46 of 296 (15%)
  • Box 98: 139 of 499 (27%)
  • Box 100: 144 of 422 (32%)
  • Box 115: 274 of 307 (89%)
  • Box 116: 346 of 864 (40%)
  • Box 139: 38 of 38 (100%)
  • Overall: 59% of the 8,387 manuscripts currently uploaded to the website have been transcribed thus far.

We were delighted to say that Transcribe Bentham has been nominated in the DH 2012 awards, in the ‘Best Digital Humanities Project for Public Audiences’ category, in what is an extremely strong field.
