Progress update, 12 to 25 January 2013

By Tim Causer, on 25 January 2013

Welcome to the progress update for the two weeks covering the period 12 to 25 January 2013; apologies for the late issuing of the update, owing to our attendance last week at the kick-off meeting of thetranScriptorium project. A normal service should now be fully resumed!

A total of 33,539 words (including XML markup) were transcribed during this two-week period!

  • From 12 to 18 January: a total of 4,893 manuscripts had been transcribed or partially transcribed (an increase of 72 on the previous week’s total).
  • From 19 to 25 January: 4,936 manuscripts had been transcribed or partially-transcribed (up 43 on the previous week).

Of these 4,936 transcripts, 4,673(94%) are complete and locked!

The more detailed state of progress is as follows:

  • Box 2: 365 manuscripts transcribed of 532 (68%)
  • Box 27: 348 of 350 (99%)
  • Box 35: 277 of 439 (63%)
  • Box 50: 107 of 198 (54%)
  • Box 51: 352 of 940 (37%)
  • Box 62: 53 of 565 (9%)
  • Box 70: 248 of 250 (70%)
  • Box 71: 651 of 665 (97%)
  • Box 72: 607 of 664 (91%)
  • Box 73: 151 of 151 (100%)
  • Box 79: 198 of 199 (99%)
  • Box 95: 119 of 147 (80%)
  • Box 96: 526 of 539 (97%)
  • Box 97: 46 of 288 (15%)
  • Box 98: 97 of 499 (19%)
  • Box 100: 136 of 433 (30%)
  • Box 115: 274 of 307 (89%)
  • Box 116: 343 of 864 (39%)
  • Box 139: 38 of 38 (100%)
  • Overall: 60% of the 8,164 manuscripts uploaded to the website have been transcribed thus far.

The most heavily transcribed sets of material during this period were Boxes 50 and 98; almost a fifth of the latter box has been transcribed over the past three weeks, which is incredible.

Once again, thank you to all who have contributed to Transcribe Bentham over the last few weeks, and for your forbearance in the delay in getting to check your submissions. Your efforts remain greatly appreciated by us all.
