Progress update, 18 to 24 February 2012

By Tim Causer, on 24 February 2012

Welcome to the progress update for the period 18 to 24 February 2012, during which the rate of transcription has remained extremely high.

2,845 manuscripts have now been transcribed, which is an increase of 66 upon last week’s total. Of these, 2,613 (91%) are now complete and locked.

The more detailed state of progress is as follows:

  • Box 2: 318 manuscripts transcribed of 532 (59%)
  • Box 27: 258 of 350 (73%)
  • Box 35: 228 of 439 (51%)
  • Box 50: 52 of 92 (56%)
  • Box 51: 48 of 940 (5%)
  • Box 62: 51 of 565 (9%)
  • Box 70: 166 of 250 (47%)
  • Box 71: 425 of 665 (63%)
  • Box 72: 240 of 664 (36%)
  • Box 73: 123 of 156 (78%)
  • Box 79: 76 of 199 (38%)
  • Box 95: 45 of 147 (30%)
  • Box 96: 513 of 539 (95%)
  • Box 97: 23 of 288 (7%)
  • Box 115: 241 of 307 (78%)
  • Box 139: 38 of 38 (100%)
  • Overall: 50% of the 5,580 manuscripts uploaded to the website have been transcribed thus far.

Boxes 2, 27 and 71 were the most heavily transcribed; 38 of this week’s total number of transcripts were from Box 71 alone.

As mentioned recently, Box 96 is currently 95% complete. To assist volunteers in finding the few remaining ones, we have created a list of the outstanding untranscribed and partially-transcribed manuscripts. We hope this will be of some use in rounding off this substantial run of material.

Finally, as ever, thank you to all those who have participated and given their time to Transcribe Bentham during the last week – it is very much appreciated.
