Progress update, 4 to 10 February 2012

By Tim Causer, on 10 February 2012

Welcome to the progress update for the period 4 to 10 February 2012. Volunteers have transcribed the largest number of manuscripts during this seven-day period, than in any other week since early January 2011!

2,707 manuscripts have now been transcribed, a huge increase of 70 on this time last week. Of these, 2,473 (91%) are complete and locked, up 63 on last Friday. This is huge amount of work, and we are extremely grateful to all volunteers for their efforts during the last week. The 3,000th transcript is in sight!

The detailed state of progress is as follows:

  • Box 2: 304 manuscripts transcribed of 532 (55%)
  • Box 27: 242 of 350 (68%)
  • Box 35: 228 of 439 (51%)
  • Box 50: 51 of 92 (53%)
  • Box 51: 46 of 940 (4%)
  • Box 62: 47 of 565 (7%)
  • Box 70: 165 of 250 (47%)
  • Box 71: 333 of 665 (45%)
  • Box 72: 237 of 664 (33%)
  • Box 73: 122 of 156 (77%)
  • Box 79: 75 of 199 (37%)
  • Box 95: 45 of 147 (30%)
  • Box 96: 512 of 539 (94%)
  • Box 97: 22 of 288 (7%)
  • Box 115: 240 of 307 (77%)
  • Box 139: 38 of 38 (100%)
  • Overall: 48% of the 5,580 manuscripts uploaded to the website have been transcribed thus far.

Boxes 2, 71, and 72 were the most heavily transcribed during the last week; 33 of this period’s 70 transcripts came from Box 71 alone!

Thank you, as ever, to all volunteers who have taken part this week. We never cease to be surprised at the goodwill and efforts of those taking part in the project, and remain hugely grateful for those who continue to contribute to Transcribe Bentham‘s ongoing success.
