By Tim Causer, on 8 July 2011

Welcome to the progress update for 2 July to 8 July 2011, which has again proven to be a busy one.

The Benthamometer now shows that 1,559 manuscripts have been transcribed, of which 1,315 (84%) are complete and locked. Boxes 35 and 71 proved the most popular this week, with 15 manuscripts in each being transcribed. Box 51, containing 940 manuscripts on legal procedure and judicial establishment – including a good portion of material written in French – has also been uploaded to the Transcription Desk.

The state of progress for each Box of material is as follows:

  • Box 2: 169 manuscripts transcribed of 532 (32%)
  • Box 27: 202 of 350 (58%)
  • Box 35: 155 of 439 (35%)
  • Box 50: 28 of 92 (30%)
  • Box 51: 2 of 940 (0.2%)
  • Box 70: 153 of 250 (44%)
  • Box 71: 99 of 665 (15%)
  • Box 72: 85 of 664 (13%)
  • Box 73: 112 of 156 (72%)
  • Box 79: 19 of 199 (10%)
  • Box 95: 43 of 147 (29%)
  • Box 96: 254 of 539 (47%)
  • Box 115: 210 of 307 (68%)
  • Box 139: 28 of 584 (5%)
  • Overall: 1,559 of the 5,262 (30%) manuscripts uploaded to the website have been transcribed thus far.

As always, we are extremely grateful to those volunteers who have provided their time and effort this week to transcribe material. We couldn’t do it without them.
