New Year and the New York Times

By uczwvhw, on 4 January 2011

Happy New Year to all our transcribers!

2011 looks set to be a very exciting and rewarding year at the Bentham Project. An article on Transcribe Bentham in the New York Times on December 27th and a recommendation in the New Yorker on December 28th have generated so much interest in the project that our number of registered users has more than tripled! We now have over 1000 transcribers and the editorial team has arrived back after the Christmas break to over 100 submissions! We are so grateful for all these contributions and the enthusiasm shown by our new, and our experienced, users. We will work through these submissions as quickly as possible and we will very shortly be uploading more of Bentham’s manuscripts to give you greater choice.

In the meantime happy transcribing and please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries.

Hey, this is great news (and it is a good article). It should bring many more people to your transcription desk.

It was wonderful to watch the flood of new user accounts being created throughout the post-Christmas and New Year period! I’m delighted to hear that this has been reflected in the large number of folios submitted. This bodes well for the coming months!
