SOAS Library

By Kieron L Jones, on 22 March 2012

The SOAS Library has also taken the decision to suspend all registration of external undergraduate and taught postgraduate students, including UCL’s undergraduates and taught postgraduates, for the period 19 March 2012 to 8 June 2012 inclusive.  UCL undergraduate and taught postgraduate students will not be able to register for access to the SOAS collections during that period.

  • Staff, Ph.D and MPhil students applying under the SCONUL Access Band “A” scheme are unaffected by this restriction, provided they apply using a SCONUL Band “A” card, as well as their UCL ID.
  • Formal Intercollegiate students from UCL doing a module at SOAS should also be unaffected by the restriction.
  • Undergraduate students and taught postgraduate students already registered with SOAS and already in possession of a SOAS Library card should still be able to use this to gain access as well, though full details of this are still being confirmed.

Any cases of genuine academic need (specific materials confirmed as only available from SOAS within the London area) should be directed to Matthew Reynolds (lib-membership@ucl.ac.uk) with details of the specific items (titles and authors / journal titles and volumes).  SOAS may grant a day of reference access for such cases but this is at their discretion.
