Observatoire Politique de l’Amérique latine et des Caraïbes

Observatoire Politique de l’Amérique latine et des Caraïbes (OPALC) is a major research body of staff, students and researchers based at Sciences Po, France. It organises events, researches and publishes on all aspects of Latin American politics. This includes coverage of elections in Latin American nations, participative democracy, political parties and movements, migration and politics and assessments of the state of democracy. Its website provides information on its mission and projects. It includes free access to press releases, newsletters and political outlooks, plus some full text papers and reports. The site also includes blogs and access to video clips of lectures. The section on elections contains an electoral calendar, recent results and papers. Countries covered include: Dominican Republic, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, El Savador, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Puerto Rica, Colombia and Costa Rica.

Our changing lives

A useful site supported by the Economic and Social Research Council, Wellcome Trust and the Medical Research Council. It describes itself as offering a gateway to finding the latest research on how British lives are shaped and are changing in the 21st century. How they are affected by health, wealth, employment. It provides links to the major websites of longitudinal studies, birth cohort studies undertaken from the 1940s until the present day. The descriptions are offered in a style which is accessible to the public, and undergraduate’s links are provided to the original survey home pages where many examples of data can be downloaded directly.
