The National Center for Education Statistics is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education in the U.S. and other nations. NCES is located within the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences.

Iraq Democracy Information Center

Iraq democracy information centreIraq Democracy Information Center comprises an international committee who develop educational materials on democracy and human rights which are intended for distribution by aid agencies and other NGOs in Iraq, in order to aid political reform and the democratisation process. Its website provides information on the aims of the project, its members and activities. It includes the ability to download some of the materials produced. These include the Iraq democracy papers series which are written by scholars (drawing upon Western and non-Western ideas) to stimulate discussions about democracy in Iraq. There is also a large library of reports and papers from other organisations discussing issues relating to democracy, human rights and civil liberties in the Arab and Muslim worlds in general. Some items are offered in Arabic only.

The Afghanistan NGO Safety Office

Afghanistan NGO The Afghanistan NGO Safety Office is an independent project, founded in 2002, to inform and advise humanitarian organisations on safety conditions across Afghanistan. Its website provides information on its aims, methods and activities. It includes free access to an online archive of data on the state of security in Afghanistan from 2002 onwards. These include weekly updates describing incidents relating to violence against NGO personnel for each of Afghanistan’s provinces. There are also quarterly updates of trends, casualties, death in relation to charities, aid workers and NGOs.
