Financial Soundness Indicators

By Kieron L Jones, on 1 September 2009

FSIs Financial Soundness Indicators (FSIs) have been developed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) together with the international community, and are aimed at supporting macroprudential analysis – the surveillance and assessment of the strengths and vulnerabilities of financial systems. They include indicators of the health of entire sectors of financial institutions, but also of the counterpart corporate and household sectors, and of relevant markets. Information is available by country, across countries and across indicators with users able to construct their own queries, as with many other IMF Stat services. The site includes a compilation guide to FSI statistics, information on metadata standards / caveats in the comparison of indicators, plus links to related IMF papers on this issue.
