ENACT: Enacting European citizenship

By Kieron L Jones, on 29 July 2009

ENACT ENACT is a ‘Socio economic Sciences and Humanities’ Programme funded by the European Commission. It involves researchers from the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands, Hungary, Latvia and Turkey in the exploration of how European citizenship is claimed, disputed, built and enacted. This compares ideas and policies of citizenship and identity in established EU nations, accession nations and new post-communist European nations. Major strands of work are considering relations between Tukey and the EU, mobility within Europe and its impact upon EU citizenship and identity, the European Court of Justice and the enactment of EU citizenship, immigration and identity, and EU citizenship in Latvia. The website provides access to blog postings, press releases and full text papers detailing research findings.
