What will tomorrow's Web addresses look like?

By Chris J Dillon, on 26 August 2012

ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has received over 1,400 applications for new Web extensions (e.g..apple), over 100 of which are in non-Roman scripts. Rules for the existing names containing a-z, 0-9 and the hyphen are complex enough, but imagine setting up rules for addresses for every letter in every world script!

I’m on the project that will decide which Unicode code points will be allowed and the rules that will govern them.
